What is Expend?
Expend automates the entire expense process, from the initial transaction through to the bookkeeping entry. We do this through a combination of a MasterCard, Mobile app, Online Admin Dashboard and our advanced syncing algorithms.
Is Expend suitable for us?
If your business spends money, we’re sure we’ll be able to help! Expend has been built to be flexible and customisable enough to assist any business – regardless of size, industry, and structure.
My company isn’t incorporated in the UK, can I still use Expend?
Companies outside the UK can still use Expend to manage cash expenses, mileage claims, and scan invoices. However the Expend cards are currently only available to companies incorporated in the United Kingdom (Including Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Isle of White and if you’re unsure please contact support) . More countries will be added in due course.
How do I set up my account?
We aim to process all applications within 24hrs and deliver cards the next business day.
How much does this all cost?
Prices are dependent on your plan, and the individual services you use. More information can be found on our pricing page.
Are there other fees or limits?
We do charge some extra fees for certain services, such as ATM withdrawals above our fair usage policy. Full details can be found here. If you cancel before the 30-day free trial ends, there is no charge for using our services at all. However, there is a processing fee of £15 to refund any balance remaining on an Expend card that has been cancelled. You can find more information in regards to our fees here.
What is the set up cost?
There are no charges to start with Expend. We do not charge for initial card orders, there is no minimum order, minimum load amount or users.
How does it work?
Expend helps your organisation easily record all employee spending, regardless of how the expense is incurred. For the ultimate ease-of-expending, you can give Expend prepaid Mastercards to any employer or even contractors, but set budgets to control how much they can spend. With intuitive tools like the mobile app and web console, you’ll be able to track spending real-time, instantly transfer funds to all card holders (for free), establish budgets and rules, and much more.
Will Expend work with our accounting software?
Yes, Expend can be connected to most accounting systems as we offer customised CSV exports. We also have direct integrations with Xero and Quickbooks.
Does Expend offer credit cards?
Expend does not offer credit cards yet, although we can work with your existing credit cards if you have these. To register your interest for credit cards please let us know in our live chat.
Can I use my Expend card abroad?
Yes! Expend can be used Worldwide, wherever MasterCard is accepted. If you travel a lot, we also offer plans with the bank rate (find it here), no FX markup and no foreing purchase fees. For more details please read our pricing page, T&Cs and fair usage policy.
Is there a minimum number of users/ cards?
The minimum number of users is 1, there are no minimums on card numbers. The minimum account top up value is £10.
Is my money safe with Expend?
Yes. Your funds are held by our card provider – Prepaid Financial Services Limited (PFS). PFS Ltd. regulated and authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, as an Electronic Money Institution, registration number 900036 Therefore your funds are segregated from Expend & PFS’s own and safeguarded by law from any claims by creditors in the unlikely event of insolvency.
What other security is there?
Expend takes the security of your funds and data extremely seriously. It’s why we use bank-level encryption of all your data as standard. We let you limit the amount of money that can be accessed, as well as enhanced card security features including remote-locking, 3D secure, and disabling ATM, online or magstripe transactions.
